This standard rifle was manufactured in 1946 during the transition period (late 1945 to 1951). It is one of approximately 20,000 Model 70s chambered for .220 Swift. It has the transition period safety, clover leaf receiver tang, receiver tapped on both the front and rear bridge for scope mounting and on the side for peep sight mounting, a hooded blade front sight on a stippled ramp, rear sight filler block, Redfield 12x scope, leather sling, and checkered straight comb pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. The bolt body is marked with the matching serial number.

Very good as fitted with a scope and filler block in place of the rear sight. The rifle retains 85% plus of the original matte blue finish. The bolt handle has a mottled brown patina. The trigger guard also has some light thinning from handling. There are some spots of light spotting and a few light scratches. The stock is very good with sharp checkering, several light scrapes and extensive dings, and some bruising on the forend. The action and optics are excellent.
