Description:

Marketed with an eye towards riot control and prison population management, the Peters-Thompson 45 Shot Cartridge loads a cardboard "pill" of 120 pellets of #8 birdshot into a double crimped 45 ACP casing. Though slightly larger than a standard 45 round, the only modification needed to run the Peters-Thompson through Thompson's SMGs and Carbines was a special elongated magazine. Very similar in appearance to the standard magazine, the shot magazine is blued steel with the legend "PATENTED-AUG.-24-1920/FOR 18 SHOT CARTRIDGES/AUG.-24-1920-JAN.-11-1921" stamped on the front and "L.B.P.D." hand-marked on the floorplate. Though not identified by the consignor, this may indicate the Long Beach Police Department of California. Included with the magazine are four boxes of Peters Riot Cartridges and one 50-round (full) box of Remington-UMC Kleanbore ammunition with a "TRACER" sticker applied to the top and red paint tips on the bullets.

Rating Definition:

The magazine is very fine with 75% of the original blue finish showing mild scratches and bright spots. The Peters boxes are fair with some missing label segments, edge tearing and hand-drawn "repairs". The Remington box is good, showing mild wear appropriate to age.
