Description:

This is a just a magnificent, example of a Krieghoff Luger that is serial number "10,000". Wow what a fabulous find this is. As we all know the low 1 and 2 digit serial numbered Luger are highly desirable and highly sought after. The same goes for the "high numbered" last production pistols such as this one listed here. We know that in 1937 was one of the very first big Luftwaffe contract for the Krieghoff Company. The serial numbers in that block are noted from 7300 to 10000, clearly indicating that this was the last intended pistol to be produced in 1937 for the original Luftwaffe Contract of 10,000 Luger P08's. These Krieghoff Lugers all featured the high polish commercial blue style finish with straw colored small parts. The Krieghoff produced Luger was the only officially approved Luger that was used by the Luftwaffe. It is estimated that approximately 2500 lugers were produced in 1937. This Luger is pictured on page 373 of "lugers at Random" by Kenyon. The specific pistol has the "1937" dated chamber, with the C-2 type die markings on the toggle. These are identified by the letter "I" in Krieghoff over the letter "S" in Suhl with the slightly angled letter "U" with the right corner faulted. Slightly wider Anchor tips with the left side outside the "H" in "H/Anchor/K" markings. The right side of the barrel extension has the LWaA1st-Stage II early inspection stamp only with no other acceptance proofs. The barrel is marked on the underside with only the "LWaA 1sr-Stage II Early inspection proof over the serial number. The full serial number (10000) is on front left side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel, and front of the frame, and the last digits "00" on the various smaller parts; trigger, breech bolt, takedown lever, thumb safety lever, side plate, and toggle train assembly. The extractor and safety are correctly marked "GELADEN" and GESICHERT respectively. It is fitted with a set of Krieghoff brown plastic grips with the coarse checkering and smooth border around the edges with no mold or proofs on the back side. It is complete with one renumbered stainless steel magazine with an aluminum base stamped with the inverted LWaA 1st -Stage II acceptance proof over serial number "10000". Also, number "9200R" is on-factory stamped on rear frame above lanyard loop.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining overall with a hint of edge and high spot wear. The various smaller parts retain 97% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in excellent condition with just a couple of very minor handling marks on the lower left side. Mechanically excellent. This is one of the most unique Krieghoff Lugers on the market and is certainly the "only" 10,000 serial numbered Krieghoff ever!
