Description:

Produced in a very limited range (71000-72000, with 71500 and later shared with 1914 production), the 1913 Commercial Luger was a "clean up" project to expend the last of the early model grip-safety equipped Luger frames before transitioning to the 1914 frame. Making this example even more scarce is the stock lug on the back strap; while a standard feature on military Lugers and later production commercial pistols, it was introduced as a special order feature, and the 1913 Commercial came with a smooth back strap by default. It is believed that only six of the 1913 Lugers were so ordered, making this pistol a rarity within a rarity. Fixed sights, with a blank chamber, "DWM" marked toggle link, and "crown/N" proofs on the barrel, extension, toggle link and breechblock. No military markings or proofmarks are present, with commercial pattern serial numbers overall. With straw finished small parts, checkered walnut grips, and a nickel bodied magazine with an unmarked wood base. With an unmarked brown leather holster, extra nickel finished wood bodied magazine, and a takedown tool.

Rating Definition:

Fine as partially refinished (side plate), with the balance retaining 85% plus of the faded original blue finish overall, showing patches of deep pitting, scattered handling marks and some bright edge wear. The side plate is unnumbered, and the firing pin numbered "93". The grips are good, with some dings and dark staining. Holster is a bit rough, with an absent belt loop and significant cracking. Mechanically excellent.
