Description:

This is a unique example of an early 1934/35 Mauser Banner Commercial Luger pistol that was intended for commercial sales inside of Germany or Europe. This Luger has the longer 4 7/8 inch barrel chambered for the 7.65 mm Commercial Luger cartridge. It has the high polish commercial blued finish, straw colored small parts, and checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is blank, and only the front of the frame is numbered. The barrel and barrel extension are proofed with a very small "Crown/U"; the barrel proof is upside down. There are no witness marks on the underside of the barrel indicating it is a retailer replacement. It has the earlier, small size Mauser Banner logo on the front toggle. It has a commercial type serial number placement with the trigger, takedown lever, side plate, breech bolt and rear toggle all numbered "29" and the breech bolt and toggle unproofed. The sear block and ejector spring are both stamped with the early Gothic style "S" typically used on K-date Lugers. It has the standard Gesichert/Geladen safety and extractor markings and standard sights. It is fitted with standard checkered walnut grips that are unnumbered. It is complete with a blued unmarked steel magazine with an unmarked aluminum base.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with 97% of the Oberdorf commercial quality high polish blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. There is edge and high spot wear overall with some spotting/discoloration on the top and right side of the barrel extension. The smaller parts retain 80% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice, distinct checkering on both sides with some minor handling marks and light wear along the front edges.
