Introduced circa 1915, the Bolo takes the style and function of the Model 1896 and applies it to a more compact pistol. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the 3-line address on top of the chamber, 2-line address on the right side of the frame, New Safety hammer, and matching external numbers. Fitted with a pair of matching numbered 22-groove hardwood grips. Included with the pistol is a "bxn 53" marked stripper clip loaded with six DWM-headstamped inert rounds and a floral tooled russet leather flap holster with a matching shoulder strap. No maker's marks are present on the holster. A virtually identical holster, possibly this very holster, is pictured on page 265 in upper right hand corner of Erickson & Pate's "The Mauser Broomhandle:1896-1936" as an example of a Chinese-made Broomhandle holster.

Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish showing some light handling marks, a few areas of gray patina, and minor spotting. 75% of the bright niter blue is present on the small parts and is especially strong on the extractor and sight adjustment. Grips are very fine with a few mild dings. The holster is about good with some cracks, stitch loss, and overall wear and tear. Mechanically excellent.
