Description:

This is a solid representative example of a scarce 1934 Mauser "first" sub-variation, "K" date military contract Luger pistol. The "K Date" P.08 Lugers were manufactured in 1934 with a total of only approximately 10,000 ever manufactured, with all K-date Lugers being extremely rare as most saw extensive service on the Eastern Front, where they had an extremely low survival rate. These were the first Lugers to use the secret "K-date" letter code indicating manufacture in 1934, concealing Germany's rearmament in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Any K-date Luger are among the most desirable of all Nazi Lugers, with this example classified as a Sub-Variation 1 that has the all "script" markings. There were only 1700 total manufactured in the 1-1700 serial number range. This example has the standard script "K" date mark on the chamber area with the script "S" in the "S/42" markings on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the double boxed "O/37" acceptance stamps with a single Eagle firing proof. The major components are all stamped with serial number "1594" with the last two digits on the smaller parts. As noted this scarce Luger has all Script letter marking on the various smaller parts. This Luger is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips. The pistol is complete with a type 1 nickel plated Army magazine with the aluminum base, that is stamped "Script S/1594/(boxed) O 37."

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 99% of a professionally restored rust blued finish overall with no visible wear. The smaller parts also retain 98% of their restrawed colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering overall. This rare early K-Date Luger has all matching numbers to include the restamped magazine base. Although professionally restored, these early "K-Date" Lugers are scarce in any condition and this one has clear sharp markings and numbers with nice original flats and square edges. Certainly your chance to acquire a very desirable early and rare, "K-Date" Luger pistol at a fraction of the cost of an original finish example that will look terrific in any Luger collection.
