Description:

Manufactured in 1941 during the German Occupation of Czechoslovakia for issue to the German Gebirgsjaeger mountain troopers. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with "eagle/63" and "WaA63" stamps on the "dot/1941" marked receiver and a matching-numbered bolt stamped "M2" on the underside of the handle. The stock is the early pattern "3 piece" with finger-slotted joints ahead of the reinforcing bolt and through the knob of the pistol grip, additional "63" stamps at the wrist and butt, matching "1270" serial number on the underside, and a bright steel buttcap with extended steel protector on the left side. Seen primarily on 1940 and 1941 production rifles, the three-piece stock is believed to have been inspired by the Finnish alterations to the Moisin-Nagant, as a single piece of wood would be more sensitive to temperature-related warping than a multi-piece design; the feature was later eliminated for time and cost reasons.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine with 95% plus of the original blue finish showing some minor spotting and handling marks overall. The stock is very fine with a few light dents. The buttplate and extension have been heavily polished bright. Mechanically excellent.
