Description:

This is an early pre-war Mauser Banner commercial Luger pistol that was manufactured in 1937 as part of a contract for commercial sales intended for export to neutral countries. It has the standard 1937 dated chamber area and the Mauser Banner logo on the front toggle. It is still chambered in 9mm Luger which is scarce as at this time the 9 mm cartridge was only intended for military use. The barrel is only stamped with the serial number, and the alignment mark is slightly askew which may indicated it was rebarreled by the Mauser factory for military use. It has the early desirable Crown/U commercial proofs stamped on the barrel extension and breechblock with standard Gesichert/Geladen safety and extractor markings. It has the standard military-style serial number placement with the full serial number (4252) stamped on the frame, barrel and barrel extension and the last two digits on the various smaller parts including the grips. It has a blued magazine body with an aluminum base that is stamped "4252/v/Eagle 63". It has a blued finish straw, colored small parts and checkered grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (cold blue on muzzle, side plate, frame rails, and lower front grips trap) with 85% of the faded blue finish on balance with edge and high spot wear with thinning on the side plate hump and front edges of the frame rails. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides, showing wear across the tops of the checkering. Although the grips are numbered on the back sides, they are slightly oversized on the front edge. A very scarce early pre-war Commercial Mauser Banner Luger.
