Description:

Originally established as the personal guard of the Prussian King in 1740, the Gardes Du Corps would continue to serve following German unification. The sword is an 1845 pattern measuring 44 inches in overall length, the straight double fuller blade is 38 inches long, with battlefield scene etching on the left side, "Regiment Gardes du Corps." on the right, and "WILHELM FINKE, POTSDAM" on the spine along with a light vine pattern. Brass 3-branch hilt, with a wire wrapped sharkskin grip and a helmet shaped pommel. With a nickel finished scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The otherwise very fine blade shows mild spotting and handling marks, with a number of impact dents on the edge. The brass shows a mixed well aged patina, with some mild scuffs and cracks in the wrap. Scabbard is fair, with flaking and discoloration.
