Developed during WWII, the ZF 41 and ZF 41/1 were intended for issue as a "shooting aid" to enhance the long range striking ability of already-advanced rifleman at the small unit level, inviting comparison to the Soviet "squad sniper" and American "designated marksman" concepts. Overall length of 5 1/4 inches, with the main body marked "cag/+/Z.F. 41/1" behind the 1-8 graduated elevation knob, "2578" on the eyepiece, and "duv/eagle/214" and "K98k-Zf.41" on the blued steel mounting base. With a sheet metal front and rear sunshields and a brown enamel finished steel belt case, with a green canvas loop and "jxb WaA542" stamped on the lid.

Very good, with some light handling marks overall. The elevation adjustment is in good order, with the optics slightly fuzzy. The case shows wear and scuffing appropriate to age and field use.
