Description:

Produced circa 1901/1902, the Philippine (aka Alaskan) Model was ordered in response to combat experience in the Philippines, where the then standard 38 Colt revolvers were seen as insufficient to deal with the Moro Rebels. Using the 1878 Frontier as a baseline, the 1878/1902 lengthens the trigger for increased leverage on a reinforced mainspring. Fixed sights, with Carr's "R.A.C." inspection marks on the left side of the frame and trigger guard and the rear of the cylinder, "J.T.T.", "1902" and "U.S." on the right side, niter blue hammer and trigger, and checkered Rampant Colt grips with a lanyard swivel on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% of the original blue finish showing bright gray along the high edges, mixed brown and gray in the grip area, and scattered handling marks and spotting. Strong niter blue is present on the hammer and trigger. Grips are very good with moderate wear on right panel and a few mild dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
