Description:

The first production of the 357 Magnum double action revolver built on a five screw N target frame. These .357 Magnums were introduced in 1935 and were a custom manufactured revolver. Smith & Wesson manufactured about 5,500 Registered Magnums before production was stopped because it was deemed too costly to manufacture, which at the time sold for $60. Standard barrel and right side frame markings and "REG 2309" marked on the frame. The top of the rib and top strap are finely checkered, finely checkered casehardened hammer and serrated trigger, both marked "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." Pinned front blade sight, adjustable rear sight and fitted with checkered walnut magna grips with silver S&W medallions, matching internal numbers and diamond pattern around the screws. The included factory letter the revolver was shipped on May 26, 1937 to Jersey City, NJ. Also with the revolver is the original factory shipping certificate and very rare document shipping tube. Both the certificate and shipping tube are addressed to Robert Kruse. The certificate confirms the serial number, barrel length, and sights. The blue S&W box is correct for a .357 Magnum revolver.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original high polished blue finish showing a noticeable cylinder drag line and a few mild handling marks. The revarnished grips are very fine with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good showing worn edges.
