Manufactured 1906. This rifle was returned to the Winchester factory on May 12, 1913, and was reworked to its current configuration. The factory letter states it was shipped on May 4, 1906, with a number 1, 22 LR caliber, 24 inch octagon barrel, plain trigger, plain pistol grip stock and flat top sporting rear sight. It also mentions it was returned on May 12, 1913 for rework. The rifle currently is fitted with a 28 inch number 1 octagon barrel in 25-21 Stevens caliber. The barrel is fitted with a Ballard hooded front sight and a flat top sporting rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line Winchester address (partially covered by the front scope mount base) and the underside is marked "REFINISH 606 J.P.P.", the initials of Winchester workman J.P. Parker and the 606 would be the factory R&R assignment. The underside at the breech is marked "25-20 SS". According to information accompanying the rifle, the barrel came from a blank designated as 25-20SS rechambered to the 25-21 Stevens. The barrel is fitted with a Winchester A5 scope and there is a short range peep sight mounted on the upper tang. The top of the receiver is marked with the Winchester oval proof, the serial number is on the lower tang and the number "7" is stamped on the front underside of the receiver. Blue finish with casehardened breechblock and lever, and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert. Pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and steel crescent buttplate.
