Manufactured 1890. Sometime in the early 20th Century the rifle was rebarreled by Winchester. The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof. The left side of the barrel ahead of the rear sight slot is marked with the two line address and patent dates. The left side at the breech is marked "22 W.C.F." and a "1" is marked on the underside directly ahead of the forearm. The barrel is equipped with a dovetailed blade front sight and the rear sight slot is filled with a Marbles sight block. The upper tang is fitted with a Lyman short range peep sight. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blue barrel, casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very good as factory rebarreled. The barrel retains 85% faded original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and some thinning near the muzzle. The remaining metal parts have a smooth mottled gray patina. The wood is good with a small chip on the top of the right side of the wrist and the wrist has a repair. Overall, there are scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
