Description:

This is an example of a DWM Model 1914 commercial Luger that was purchased as a German Weimar era Navy Luger. The serial number of this example falls into the commercial range that was purchased by the German Navy when they could not obtain Luger pistols. It has the unmarked chamber area and the "DWM" marked toggle. There are no commercial proofs on this Luger, and it is stamped with only a single boxed "Crown" type Navy acceptance/firing proof on the left side of the barrel and barrel extension. Numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number "74550" stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel. It has the standard front sight with the fixed rear sight on the rear toggle. The last two digits of the serial number are stamped on the trigger, side plate, takedown lever and rear toggle. It has no German military or commercial acceptance proofs or markings. It is complete with a tin-plated magazine with a commercial Navy type wooden base that has the small circular rings on the side of the base with the bottom stamped length wise: "Cal 9 m/m". It is complete with a very rare, early, unmarked brown commercial Luger holster. This design has a slightly thicker flat side design on the body of the holster with flat face, a small flap, square tip strap and wide spaced belt loops and no magazine pouch.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear and blue loss on the side plate hump, muzzle area and front edges of the frame rails. The various smaller parts retain 60% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice, distinct checking on both sides, visible wear across the tops of the checking, and the back of the grips having been varnished with some minor varnish on the face of the right grip. Mechanically excellent.
