Description:

This rifle is in the No. 2 Sporting rifle configuration and was manufactured between 1881 and 1891 by the Marlin Firearms Company. It has a beaded blade front sight, two leaf rear sight, a receiver mounted peep sight, standard three-line maker markings (cast action) including matching serial numbers, and a smooth stock and forearm.

Rating Definition:

Very good. 65% plus of the original blue finish remains on the barrel, and the action retains around half of the fading original case colors and some patches of mild pitting. The balance has brown and gray patina. The wood is also very good and has some slight hairline cracks at the tail of the forearm, strong varnish, and some minor marks and scratches. The action functions fine, and the markings are crisp.
