The barrel is fitted with a globe and pin style front sight and has an empty rear sight seat dovetail for a rear barrel mounted sight. The top of the barrel is marked "H.G. CORDES IN BREMERHAFEN" in silver wire inlay forward of the silver banded breech. Cordes was a maker of guns, and perhaps best known for the manufacture of whaling harpoon guns and ship side swivel guns. The bottom flat features a solid rib with ramrod pipes and an iron ramrod with a brass tip. The lock plate is intricately engraved with floral scroll designs, as is the trigger plate, spurred trigger guard and upper tang. Mounted on a one piece stock with a single forearm wedge, checkering at the wrist, double set triggers, cheekpiece, and a Schuetzen style buttplate

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished and repaired with 85% of the blue. The barrel has aged to a smooth brown, with light cleaned spotting and pitting, general handling marks and a dark patina on the silver wire inlays. The lock plate has aged to a mostly silver gray with crisp engraving, and general handling marks. The revarnished wood is very good with small indentations, repaired crack thru the wrist, well defined checkering, and handling marks. Mechanically good.
