Description:

The heavy fluted octagon barrel is fitted with a ramped post sight with wings. The interchangeable front sight is removable with a small spring catch. The top of the barrel is finely matted from the breech to the front sight ramp. The receiver features nicely executed wide floral scroll engraving with checkerboard patterns on the top and panel scenes of German hunters on the left and right sides. The action lever is also engraved and has finger grooves, creating a unique almost pistol type grip. The action features hand removable double set triggers. The upper tang is mounted with an adjustable large diopter peep sight. Fitted with a smooth Schnabel tip forearm attached with a wedge and a finely checkered buttstock with a large right handed Tyrolean style cheekpiece, integral thumbrest and a casehardened schuetzen style buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 75% of the original blue finish on the barrel. The blue has dulled with age and shows some light freckling and spotting. The edges of the barrel flutes and the grooved top rib edges remain very sharp. The receiver has aged to a mostly mottled gray patina with faint traces of original case colors, clear engravings, some brown spotting on the breech block, and oxidation on the triggers. The wood is fine with well defined checkering, small indentations throughout, a small chip absent from the right side of the wrist at the frame junction and a mostly aged brown patina on the buttplate with light traces of case colors. Mechanically very good.
