Description:

This Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver flask is the earliest and scarcest of the Colt Model 1851 flasks. It measures 7 inches long with the body having a brown lacquer finish. The design on the front is a military motif which show cases the American and Texas flags with anchors, an artillery piece and a stack of balls. Below this design is crossed guns above a single revolver and at the base is "COLTS PATENT" in a band with an embossed star separating the two words. The nickel plated plunger is marked "24 GRS." (See, for example, Ray Riling's book THE POWDER FLASK BOOK, page 348.)

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The body of the flask retains 90% original brown lacquer with a couple shallow dents. 95% of the silver plating on the plunger and body remains. A fine example of the rarest type of Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver flask that would enhance the most advanced Colt percussion collection. One will look a long time to find one of these!
