Description:

7,500 of these "Cloverleaf" revolvers were manufactured in the early 1870s. They were the first revolvers originally designed by Colt for metallic cartridges but were quickly outdated by the release of the New Line and Single Action Army in 1873. This example was manufactured in 1872 and has the standard markings and features of the 3 inch variation.

Rating Definition:

Very fair. The revolver retains 85% of the bright original high polish blue on the barrel, 30% blue finish in the protected areas of the cylinder, strong niter blue on the hammer, and traces of original silver plating on the frame. The balance of the cylinder has gray and brown patina, and the frame displays an honest, aged patina. The grips are fine and have minor handling and storage marks and some attractive figures. The action functions fine, and the markings are clear.
