Manufactured in 1878, the second year of production. Blade and notch sights, with a later production factory replacement barrel with the two line address on top and "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side. Casehardened frame with three line patent dates, circled Rampant Colt and checkered hammer. Niter blue finish on the hammer, screws and trigger. Trigger guard marked "41 Cal.". Checkered one-piece rosewood grip with a hole in the butt for a lanyard swivel, three threaded holes in the back strap, which was for mounting in shooting fixture, and "W.R.A.Co." signed between the holes with the Rampant Colt logos at the top. The time period is important in that both companies were in a market share dispute, and this revolver was most likely studied by Winchester in order for them to produce their own revolvers.

Near excellent as Winchester modified with 98% of the later production factory blue on the replacement barrel and cylinder. Scattered light handling marks are visible, concentrated on the grip straps, with bright gray on the edges. 95% vivid original case color remains on the frame and 97% bright original high polish blue remains on the trigger guard and back strap. The grip is good with pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
