Manufactured in 1903, the top of the barrel is marked "COLT PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and the left side is marked "45 COLT". The circled Rampant Colt logo is marked on the lower, left rear of the frame, and the serial number is marked on the toe of the back strap. All blue finish, blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with two-piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval molded at the tops. Colt manufactured approximately 51,210 Model 1878 revolvers from 1878 to 1905.

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% original blue finish with scattered flaking, showing areas of smooth brown patina, moderate pitting on the back strap, minor pitting on the top strap and some scattered minor spotting. The grips are excellent with a few minor dings and scuffs and crisp checkering. All markings are clear. The action functions fine but is slightly out of time.
