This percussion rifle is dated "1862" on the lock over "TOWER" and has a crown over "V.R" at the tail. It has the standard bayonet stud blade front sight and a folding ladder rear sight. It is fitted on a nearly full length walnut stock held by three barrel bands with provisions for a swivel on the front band and a swivel on the front of the brass trigger guard. The trigger guard tang is marked "LSM." Other similarly marked rifles have been attributed to the Louisiana State Militia.

Rating Definition:

Good. The rifle has primarily a gray patina with some slight spotting and patches of brown patina. The brass has an aged patina. The front swivel broken off. The reoiled stock is good and has a chunk absent on the left side of the butt and some bruising and scratches overall. The action functions fine and the markings are crisp.
