Description:

The lock is marked "BRANDER/& POTTS" at the center and has a burst pattern next to the pan, floral designs on the tail, a sliding safety, frizzen spring roller, and a semi-waterproof pan. The barrel has a blade front sight, a burst pattern at the front of the low rib, and "BRANDER & POTTS/70/MINORIES LONDON." Multiple generations of the Brander family were gunsmiths active in the Minories in London from 1690 to 1832. The last Brander, Martin, had a shop with Thomas Potts at 70 Minories near the Tower of London and Winchelsea from 1825-1832. The upper tang has some floral engraving and a notch rear sight, and the trigger guard bow also has some light designs. The stock has checkering on the wrist, a "DM" marked silver thumb plate, and a bare butt. A wooden ramrod is included with the tip absent.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The pistol has gray and brown patina throughout and light pitting. The front sight is worn down. The refinished stock is also fair with a crack at the toe of the lock plate, crisp checkering, a split in the ramrod channel, and some minor dings. The lock functions fine, and the markings are legible.
