Description:

The Beaumont-Adams' patent revolvers were the first modern double action revolvers ever made and proved so popular that Samuel Colt was forced to close the London factory. The revolver features a one-piece frame and barrel with the ejector rod on the right side of the frame. The top barrel flat is marked "ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS CO., 391. STRAND, LONDON" and the right side of the frame is marked "ADAMS'S/ PATENT" (in an oval) and "No 3006". There are "Crown/V" and "Crown/GP" proofs on the cylinder and barrel as well as the "AJ" monogram trademark on the bottom right of the frame. The cylinder is marked with the matching serial number. Blue finish, and fitted with a checkered one-piece walnut grip and lanyard ring on the butt. The revolver comes in a period wooden case with a brass disk on the outside of the lid and green felt lining with an Adam's Patent, "DOUBLE - ACTION CENTRAL - FIRE BREECH - LOADING REVOLVER" label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case are a wooden handled screwdriver, wooden cleaning tool, and a glass oiler (partially full).

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 50% original blue finish, concentrated mainly on the barrel and cylinder, with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. Most of the finish loss is due to flaking. The grip is also fine with a few small minor chips and some minor wear to the otherwise very crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is fine. The case is very good with some minor dings and scratches on the exterior. The lining has faded, and shows a few small areas of fabric that is absent, some minor contact wear and staining. The fine original interior lid label is mostly intact and has some oil stains.
