Description:

Measuring 30 1/2 inches overall, with a 21 5/8 inch blade featuring a straight hamon, deep single fullers and a two piece copper habaki. The round iron tsuba is decorated with gold accented forest scenes, with similar decoration on the fuchi and kashira and a pair of floral pattern menuki. The saya is finished in speckled black lacquer with spiral patterns. A nine-figure signature is present on the left side of the tang, with what appears to be a 10th figure lost to the single mekugi-ana. Consignor notes attribute the blade as 17th century production.

Rating Definition:

Good. The blade shows a number of tiny nicks in the edge and reshaped tip, with some light spotting overall. The habaki is bend, the grip shows light wear. The otherwise good saya is slightly separated, scuffed with absent pieces visible at top.
