Description:

This silver plate has four clusters of three raised relief maple leaves at the edges, a fifth set of leaves under a target and crossed rifles at the top, a textured "branch" border, and is marked "PRESENTED BY THE DOMINION OF CANADA FOR SKILL IN RIFLE SHOOTING TO MEMBERS OF CIVILIAN RIFLE ASSOCNS WON BY GR JOYNT AGASSIZ. RIFLE ASSOC 1911" in ribbons around the early Canadian Royal Coat of Arms. Near the bottom of the plate is a small "STERLING/BIRKS" stamp. George Joynt was among the earliest members of the Agassiz Rifle Association and was on the original managing committee. He was the team captain in 1912. Their range first opened in 1910. The included research documents list G. Joynt as one of the top shooters on the Agassiz Rifle Club team in 1912. Also included is information on silversmith Henry Birks, the Tiffany of Canada.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with a mild aged patina and some light handling and storage marks.
