This is an early pre-WWII American Involvement US Springfield M1 Garand rifle that was delivered to the British under the WWII Lend-Lease program. It was manufactured in August 1941 and the barrel is correctly stamped with the British proof marks from the London Proof House. The receiver has the standard markings of: "U.S. RIFLE/CAL..30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/325255". The side of the barrel is stamped with correct inverted "S-A 8-41" followed by the inverted British tonnage proofs marks followed by the raised British Scimitar/NP proof marks for the London proof house. It is fitted with the correct early, SA marked parts such as the -2SA marked bolt, the -3 SA uncut operating rod, the -5-SA marked trigger housing and internal components. It has the original early WWII "BATTLE RANGE" marked, flat elevation knob with early style windage knob with the flush locking nut. It still retains the original WWII narrow gas cylinder and early front sight with the front sight screw cap in place and single slot gas cylinder plug. It is fitted with an original GI unmarked walnut replacement stock and handguard set. The stock has the early style checkered steel buttplate and with the early beveled style lower barrel band and grooved rear handguard clip. The right side of the front handguard has a black painted rack number on the side.

Very fine with 97% of the original parkerized finish overall with light wear on the right side receiver rail with thinning of the black oxide finish on the gas cylinder and gas cylinder lock. The sanded, reoiled stock is in very good condition with only a only a couple minor handling marks with the right upper edge of the undersized stock in front of the buttplate. There is also a very minor crack just starting to show on the right rear side of the front handguard, that couple be easily repaired. It is also missing the middle sling swivel and screw, both can be found. Still a very nice early pre-WWII example of a desirable British Lend-Lease M1 Garand rifle.
