Manufactured in 1915. Blade front and flat top rear sights with the three-line Colt patent block, "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." and the flaming ordnance grenade proof on the left side of the slide and the Springfield American Eagle and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." in sans-serif letters on the right. The grenade proof is repeated by the magazine catch with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side of the dust cover. It is fitted with a long smooth trigger, knurled wide hammer, checkered slide stop and thumb safety, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard staple, a pair of checkered grips stamped "(inverted V)/4" on the top left screw flat, a correct Springfield folded base magazine and a later production World War II era replacement "HS" marked barrel.

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, bright edge wear, and scattered light scratches. The grips are fine with some mild dents and dings. Mechanically excellent. The barrel is a replacement (see above), otherwise this example is way above most of the U.S. Springfield M1911's we see!
