The Underwood barrel is dated "1-44". This carbine has mostly early features such as the two leaf "L" rear sights, unmarked magazine catch, push button safety, type 1 barrel band, and a flat top bolt in the dark Du-Lite blue finish. The receiver is marked "STD. PRO." over the serial number and the recoil plate is marked "STANDARD PRODUCTS". Mounted on a oil finished stock with a "low wood" 2 rivet handguard, oval cut oiler, faint crossed cannons cartouche on the right side, and a cupped checkered buttplate.

Fine as restored with 70% of the parkerized finish. Showing some areas of high point and edge wear, general handling marks, and small areas of a darker aged patina. The wood is very good as lightly reoiled with faint markings. Showing scattered small indentations and scratches. Mechanically excellent.

The receiver was manufactured in 1943 with a "W" submarked (Winchester) bevel for underwood as a subcontractor. The barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/12-43/flaming bomb" "P" proof, with a first style barrel band, "S" two-leaf rear sight, flat bolt with the correct dark Du-Lite finish, stamped and brazed trigger guard, push-button safety, and an unmarked magazine catch. Low wood stock with a two-rivet handguard, "G.H.D./U.E.F. (crossed cannons) rectangular cartouche on the right side of the buttstock, "MII" inside the sling cut, oval oiler cut, and a checkered buttplate.

Very fine with 85% of the parkerized finish remaining. Showing areas of light edge wear, general handling marks, and a few areas of light spotting and dark patina. The wood is fine with small indentations throughout, legible markings, and some larger dings on the underside forward of the butt. Mechanically excellent.
