Description:

Model 1860 Army revolvers with full fluted cylinders are only found among the first 8,000 produced. This example was manufactured in 1861 and has the standard early markings and features, including a four screw frame cut for a shoulder stock and matching serial numbers. There are no visible government inspection markings. The Model 1860 Army was the primary revolver used by the Union during the Civil War and were considerably more streamlined than Colt's earlier Dragoon and Walker revolvers. This was achieved by modifying the Model 1851 Navy frame for a stepped cylinder in order to increase the caliber to .44. No factory letter is available to writer, so one would possibly benefit by acquiring one as many were shipped to the south prior to the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver displays primarily gray patina and has some mild pitting. The trigger guard has an unpolished, aged patina. The grip is also good and has some minor dings, marks, and chips. The action functions fine, and the markings are legible.
