Manufactured in 1897. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "44 Cal." on the left rear. In addition ahead of the caliber marking is "L7905" and "crown / GP 420 (upside-down dot Crown / V rampant lion /g" below the caliber marking. The front upper left side of the receiver is marked with the "crown / V" proofmark. The top of the bolt is inscribed "ARTHUR JOHN WESTON / FROM A FEW / OLD HAMPSTEAD FRIENDS / DEC 1898" and the left side of the receiver is marked "FRDERIC T BAKER / 33 FLEET ST & 29 GLASSHOUSE ST / PICCADILLY CIRCUS / LONDON". Standard fixed front sight and folding leaf rear sight graduated to 900 yards. Saddle ring and staple on the left rear of the receiver and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate.

Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth grayish brown patina with strong original finish in the protected areas. There is some minor pitting on the receiver. The wood is good with a moderate gouge on the left side of the stock and overall scattered minor dings, scratches and dents. All markings are clear. The action is excellent.
