Description:

Only approximately 6,000 of these revolvers were manufactured during in the mid-1860s. They were likely primarily sold to Union soldiers during the war as well as pioneers and carpetbaggers right afterwards. They are blatant copies of Colt's Model 1851 Navy revolvers with only minor changes in markings. This example features a brass pin front sight, hammer notch rear sight, "< METROPOLITAN ARMS Co. NEW-YORK >" on the top of the barrel, Battle of New Orleans cylinder scene, and matching serial numbers.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 40% of the original blue finish remains on the barrel, and 25% of the original silver plating remains on the grip frame. The frame is primarily a dark gray patina with traces of original case colors. There are scattered minor marks and some light spotting. The grip is very good with half of the original varnish, moderate edge wear, and some small dents. The action function fine, and the markings are crisp. These rare revolvers are great additions to Colt, Civil War, or general antique American arms collections and are rare in fine condition.
