Description:

Only a few hundred of these fluted cylinder variants are believed to have been manufactured in the mid-1860s at the beginning of the Remington-Rider production. Only 3,000 to 5,000 total of these double action revolvers were manufactured and many left the factory as cartridge conversion revolvers. This example pistol has a large German silver cone front sight, the two line address and Rider's patent marking on the top of the barrel, standard frame groove rear sight, matching serial numbers and smooth grips. Consignor states this item was previously on display at the Cody Firearms Museum from the Slim Kohler collection.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The cylinder retains 40% of the original blue finish and strong niter blue remains on the trigger. The balance has traces of blue mixed with a dark brown and gray patina. There are various marks and scratches throughout. The grips are very fine with most of the original varnish on the left panel, half on the right, with light handling and storage marks overall. The action functions fine and the markings are crisp.
