Description:

Though the barrel is marked "WALCH FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-YORK/PAT'D. FEB. 8. 1859," this revolver is one of approximately 1,000-1,500 iron frame Walch revolvers manufactured in 1860-1862 by the New Haven Arms Company (then controlled by Oliver Winchester) in the same factory as the famous Henry rifles. "31 CAL" is marked upside down on the left side of the frame, and the matching serial number is on the grips and grip frame. The long cylinder holds two loads per chamber for a total of ten shots. They are fired by side by side hammers that are released in turn by the spur trigger. Both hammers cock at the same time allowing for two very rapid shots. Some of these revolvers were privately purchased by Union soldiers during the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Fair as refinished. The revolver displays a blend of applied blue finish and gray patina. There is also some light pitting and a series of small strike marks. The barrel address has been restamped at the time of refinish. The grips have some small dings minor chips at the toe and heel. The action functions very well, and the markings are mostly crisp.
