Description:

1) Unmarked bowie, 18 1/8 inches long with a 12 1/2 inch long, 1 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick clip point blade, iron guard with turned quillions, and a one-piece grip set into a silver ferrule. With a black leather sheath. 2) George Wostenholm & Son/Washington Works bowie, 14 1/2 inches long with a 9 7/8 inch blade, German silver guard and a pair of stag grip scales with "George A. Smith" on the left panel. With a brown leather sheath. Included with the lot is a copy of "The Antique Bowie Knife Book" by Adams, Voyles and Moss.

Rating Definition:

1) Good. The blade shows some mild spotting, with some rust on the guard. The grip shows some age cracks and dings, with fine color and blade. The sheath is in rough condition. 2) Good. The blade has been lightly polished, with a few small patches of pitting and minor handling marks. The tang shows a dark brown patina, with some dings on the guard and grips. The sheath is fair.
