Description:

Manufactured in 1907. This rifle is fitted with a rare special order 32 inch octagon barrel. It is estimated that only 1 in every 1,200 Model 1892 had a barrel length longer than the standard 24 inch barrel. Dovetailed sporting blade front and adjustable rear sporting sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent date ahead of the rear sight and "32 W.C.F." at the breech. The Winchester oval proof is marked on the top barrel flat and top of the receiver at the breech. The serial number is marked on the underside of the receiver. There are two magazine retaining bands, which is correct for the longer barreled rifles. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a select straight grain walnut forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. The rifle is accompanied by a letter handwritten by noted Winchester expert George Madis attesting to the authenticity of the rifle

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have traces of blue with the balance mostly a smooth brown patina. There are a few minor dings on the receiver. The wood is also very good as having been refreshed with a coat of varnish some time ago. There are some scattered minor dents and dings overall. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
