Winchester Model 1892 Takedown Sporting Rifle manufactured in 1902. The rifle has a 24-inch full octagon barrel fitted with a Lyman folding combination globe and post front sight and a buckhorn sporting style rear sight with adjustable center piece. A Lyman folding combination sight is mounted on the receiver tang. The rifle has a blued barrel, magazine, forearm cap, receiver and bolt. The ejector, trigger and loading gate have a fire blue finish. The hammer, loading lever and crescent steel buttplate are color case-hardened. The stock and forearm are nicely figured 1X, fancy grade walnut. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped: "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-" in two lines ahead of the rear sight. The caliber: "32 W.C.F." is stamped on the top barrel flat ahead of the takedown sleeve. The serial number "213590" is roll-stamped across the bottom front edge of the receiver.

Very fine. The rifle retains 80% plus of the original blue and color case-hardened finish. The barrel has some edge wear and scattered spots of age discoloration. The magazine has a few age spots with the usual takedown scuff marks near the tip. The left side of the receiver has four very small spots of pitting on the lower left edge and several minor scuff marks and spot of discoloration along the upper edge toward the hammer. The bolt retains 98% of the blue finish and the loading gate, extractor and trigger have 80% of the original nitre blue finish. The hammer and lever retain close to 90% of the case-hardened finish. The case colors on the buttplate have faded and the buttplate retains about 80% of the case colors with some scattered spots of age discoloration along the edges. The nicely figured walnut stock and forearm are in very good condition with a few minor handling marks. This is a very fine example of a fine Special Order Winchester Model 1892 Takedown lever action rifle.
