Gauge: 69
Barrel: 42 inch round
Finish: armory bright

Description:

The lock is marked "U.S./M.T. WICKHAM" below the pan and "PHILA/1834" at the tail. The barrel is marked "US/AH/P" (the latter is inset in a star burst pattern) and is dated "1833" on the tang. There is a blade front sight on the front barrel band and a bayonet lug just ahead on the top of the barrel. The stock has a low, flat comb. The bayonet is stamped "A/US." Many of these muskets were used during the Mexican-American War and later pulled from mothballs to arm desperate Confederate troops during the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The musket has a gray-brown patina overall with light pitting, and the bayonet has a darker blend of gray and brown patina. The reoiled stock is also fair with numerous dings, scratches, and chips from use. The lock functions very well, and the markings are mostly crisp.
