Description:

This small powder horn (approximately 7 inches long) is inscribed "SGT JOHN PEAT/WESTCHESTER CO/MILITIA 4TH REGT/JAN. 9T 1780" and has a town scene with "WESTCHESTER" and a stand of arms above it. John Peat appears on the Winchester County Fourth Regiment's bounty land rights list and enlisted roster in "New York in the Revolution as a Colony and State" (1898).

Rating Definition:

Very good. The horn and wood show signs of use age and have some stains and marks. The engraving is fairly crisp throughout and clearly legible. The plug and hangers are absent.
