Description:

The entire length of the barrel along the top, the chiseled trumpet muzzle and the visible portion of the breech are heavily overlaid with gold in floral patterns. The breech is deeply chiseled with a parrot and Indian/Urdu calligraphy (not translated). The sights comprise a notch at breech and a small bead at the muzzle. The iron side plates are pierced and engraved with borders and rear floral finials. The trigger is ornately pierced. The rosewood fullstock of characteristic form, secured by leather bands. The top of the stock behind the lock is fluted with bone inlay and scale and scallop carving on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Good with 85% of the rich, bright heavy gold overlay remaining. The Damascus pattern is visible. The metal has a deep age brown patination with minor oxidation. The re-oiled stock is fair with several age cracks, old repairs, dents and scratches. The action functions well. A very attractive gold decorated matchlock with inscription that should be translated and further researched.
