Description:

Only an estimated 2,100 of these pistols were manufactured by T. J. Stafford in the early 1860s. Many were finished plainly. This example has the standard "T. J. STAFFORD. NEW HAVEN. CT." marking on the top of the barrel rib, serial number on the back of the barrel and left side of the grip frame, standard blade and notch sights, scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides of the action and barrel, and has the "PATENTED/MARCH 19 1860" marking on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 75% plus of the original gold and silver plating remain. There is some marring and pitting on the edges of the barrel and some oxidation and light pitting on the hammer. The grips are very good with mostly even, creamy tones and light handling wear. The action functions fine, and the markings and engraving are crisp.
