Description:

This is a very rare example of a early Mauser Model 1914 pistol, serial number 300, that was issued to the Prussian State Police (Landjagerei) in the district of Koslin. These early Mauser pocket pistols have been collector termed a "humpback" due to the raised rear section of the slide. These earlier models are even rarer in that they were manufactured in a "long" barrel configuration. It is estimated that less than 1000 pistols of these long barreled were actually manufactured with both of these features; the humpback slide and long barrel being eliminated in the later standard production pistols. These unaltered, long barreled pistols are even rarer today as almost all were shortened to the standard 3 1/2 inch length, during the Weimar era. As noted this rare Mauser pistol is marked on the right side of the frame with "L.K. 89", indicating it was issued to the Prussian State Police (Landjagerei) in the district of Koslin. Prior to WWII this was the northern area of Poland all along the Baltic sea. The pistol has the standard three line Mauser address/patent markings on the left side of the slide with the Mauser Banner below that on the frame. The top of the slide, rear of the frame, barrel lug and magazine are all matching which are correctly numbered "300". The top of the slide and barrel lug are all stamped with the commercial "crown/ U" proof mark. It is fitted with a set of one-piece, wraparound checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a unmarked brown leather holster, that was made to fit this long barreled Mauser pistol. As noted it is complete with one matching magazine that is marked "300" on the base plate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with blue loss on the front end of the barrel, front edges of the slide, the trigger guard bow and front grip strap. The small parts retain 70% of their heat blue finish overall. The walnut grip is in fine condition overall with visible checkering on both sides, showing moderate wear across the tops of the checking with a couple heavier pressure dents on the lower rear area of the grip. The holster is in good condition with a nice medium brown color overall.
