This is a very fine example of a scarce early 1937 dated Mauser Banner Commercial contract Luger Pistol chambered in the rare 7.65 Luger cartridge. The serial number range for 1937 dated commercial Banner lugers, typically falls between serial numbers "4000v-5000v" with a estimated production of approximately 200. Based on the caliber it was clearly intended for commercial sales in Europe. It has a 1937 dated chamber with the front toggle marked with the scarce smaller "Mauser Banner" logo. The barrel extension, underside of the barrel and breech block are stamped with only a single "crown/U" commercial proof acceptance mark with no other proofs. It is has a military style serial number placement, with the full serial number on the, frame, underside of the barrel and left side barrel extension. The last two digits of the serial number are visible on the various small parts, indicating it was pulled from military production and redirected as a commercial sales pistol. It is fitted with an all blue stamped metal magazine with an aluminum base marked "1/4488/x". This scarce early commercial Luger has the early type rust blued metal finish with the early straw colored small parts. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. A very scarce and seldom encountered Mauser Banner commercial contract Luger.

Very fine with 97% of its original blue finish with some minor touch up on the barrel and high points. The smaller parts retain 98% of their straw colors overall with some minor edge wear. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. It has all matching numbers except the firing pin and grips which are unnumbered and the magazine as noted above.
