Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights with "WaA623" and "WaA77" on several components, a "40RD." marked barrel, and "bnz/42" on the receiver. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a brown leather sling, "5735" on the underside, a Kriegsmarine "eagle/M" stamp on the right above a pair of "WaA623" stamps, and a cupped steel buttplate marked "brg". Kriegsmarine-marked K98s were typically intended for shipboard or coastal facility use, with few produced and fewer surviving in any worthwhile condition.

Fine as partially refinished (stock), showing 80% of the original blue on the balance, with a few areas of brown or gray patina, mild handling marks and bright edge wear. Some scratches and dents are present on the revarnished stock, as well as a clear coat of varnish. Numbers are matching overall, but some of the markings are double stamped. Mechanically excellent.
