Description:

This is a very fine example of a desirable DWM Model 1900 "American Eagle" commercial Luger pistol. These scarce Lugers can be found in the generally accepted serial number range between of 2000-20000, with this specific pistol falling toward the end of the production cycle. These pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market, hence the use of the American Eagle symbol on top of the chamber area with the DWM markings on the front toggle. This pistol has all the early desirable Luger features such as the early long frame, dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety, no stock lug, and the first pattern safety that has the unmarked, bright polished lower safety area. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the serial number under the barrel and on the front of the frame, which is also marked "GERMANY". The various smaller parts are marked with the last one or two digits (09 or 109) of the serial number. It comes with a correct nickel-plated magazine with an unmarked, wooden base. Comes with the original walnut grips with the metal backs intended for the Ideal stock. As noted this scarce Luger is complete with an original Ideal combination metal stock and leather holster. The Ideal Company in the U.S. patented and manufactured these stocks.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the slightly faded original blue finish overall. The smaller parts retain 70% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are in very good condition with a nice dark brown color overall, with a couple minor rub spots on the sides where the stock was attached. Mechanically excellent. The extractor is a crude replacement. There is also an old age crack on the right upper side. The metal/leather combination stock is in very fine condition with 85% of the blue finish overall mixed with some thinning and brown patina. The non-factory replacement leather holster is very good with a nice shiny black leather surface, with tight stitching overall. The metal sections have nice clear, distinct Ideal patent markings.
