This is an excellent example of a 1937 dated Mauser Banner Commercial contract Luger Pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. It is dated "1937" over the chamber and the front toggle has the standard Mauser Banner logo. The left side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel and left side of the breechblock are stamped with a single "crown/U" commercial proof acceptance mark with no other proofs on the pistol. It is in a very early commercial serial number range in the "V" block with the full serial number "3989" stamped on the front of the frame, the underside of the barrel and left side of the barrel extension. The partial serial number "89" is stamped on various small parts. It is fitted with an all blue unmarked magazine with an aluminum base that is marked "3989/v/Eagle 63". This scarce early commercial Luger has the late type hot salt blue finish but still retained the earlier straw colored small parts and is fitted with checkered walnut grips. The rear of the pistol still retains the original leather pull thong, which is nearly always missing from these pistols.

Excellent with 99% of the original blue finish overall with just a hint of minor edge wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their straw colors. The walnut grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering with matching numbers on the back of each grip. Mechanically excellent. A very scarce and seldom encountered Mauser banner commercial contract Luger.
