Description:

A variant of the stahlhelm developed specifically for the paratroopers, the fallschirmhelm trims up the bottom of the helmet, which was reported in tests to produce too much drag in free-fall and putting strain on the soldiers neck. Much like the jump smock, the helmet was used by the paratroopers well after actual large-scale para-assaults were removed from the Nazi playbook in the aftermath of the successful but bloody invasion of Crete. Bearing a single Luftwaffe eagle decal on the right side, the exterior is finished in a dark matte brown with dark and light green paint on top, possibly an old field camouflage pattern. The interior is stamped "4884" in the rear and "ET68" in the left, with blue/brown leather chinstraps and brown leather webbing marked "Kopfweite: Gr.55/Stalhelm-Gr. 66" and a faint Berlin address.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some mild wear overall. The webbing is torn and repaired in the address area.
