This is a fine example of a pre-war 1940 dated, "42 code" Nazi Mauser Luger. The chamber area is dated "1940" with the new "42" code marking for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "eagle/655" proofs and the single "eagle/swastika" firing proof, with both proofmarks also on the top rear section of the barrel. The left side of breechblock is also marked with "eagle/swastika" test/acceptance proof. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. Complete with two blued WWII magazines both proofed with: "122/Eagle/37" proofed replacement magazine numbered; "7456/f" and "4407/g/+" and a WWII proofed tool. It also comes with a brown leather holster marked "E.G. LEHNBRGAU/BAUTZEN/1939". It has the later style all blued metal finish with a set of checkered grips.

Fine overall with 80% of the original blued finish with wear on the center section of the barrel and side plate hump with thinning on the grip straps. The grips are in fine condition with distinct checkering on both sides showing minor handling marks/pressure dents on the right side with a chip of wood missing under the safety lever. The holster is in very good condition with visible markings on the back side with tight stitching overall. The holster was originally black in color that was dyed brown which is now fading with the black showing through. A nice example of a pre-war German Luger holster rig.
